The register of the birth of John Ashwood, 9/8/1856 gives the mother's former name as Farrell, all subsequent
births list her name as Hackett or misspellings thereof. There were no Margaret Hacketts transported in the
same period, so she must have used her alias after arrival in Hobart.

Glenorchy
In the Glenorchy Police Court yester-
day, before Messrs. D. Ockenden and
3. D. Hickey, Js.P., Sergeant Dermoudy
prosecuting,
Douglas James Harrison, 4 Haig Ave.,
Moonah, was fined £2, with 2/6 costs,
and his driver's licence was suspended
for six months, for having driven a
motor-car at Austin's Ferry on Wed-
nesday night while under the influence
of liquor. Defendant pleaded guilty.
Sergeant Dermoudy said that Harri-
son was travelling along the Main Rd.
from Granton towards Hobart. At the
10-Mile Hill he pulled his car aside to
allow another vehicle to pass, and
struck the rear of a motor-lorry parked
